Step 4. Configure the Relationship Properties (Optional)

You can configure the relationship properties, such as the relationship line color and additional relationship attributes for a relationship. The relationship line color represents the relationship in a network. The relationship attributes are fields that appear in the
Data Director
user interface when creating or viewing the relationship.
Before you begin, you must configure a network with network relationships between business entities.
  1. Click
    Business Entity
    Modeling
    , and then select
    Network
    .
  2. Select the network relationship you want to configure.
  3. In the properties panel, from the
    Line Color
    field, select the icon, and then select a color.
    A preview of the color appears in the icon.
  4. In the tree view panel, select
    Fields
    , and then click
    Create
    .
  5. Specify the following properties:
    Property
    Description
    Name
    Name of the field.
    Label
    Display name of the field in the user interface.
    Read Only
    Indicates whether the field is read only.
    Required
    Indicates whether you must specify the field when you create a relationship.
    URI
    URI for where your custom data types are defined, if you want to associate a custom data type with the business entity field,
    Type
    Name of the custom data type that you define in the URI. Used with the URI property.
    Display Format
    The display format for the date fields.
    Filter
    Regulates the data that users can enter in the field. If you enable the
    Filter
    property, the following properties appear:
    • Operator
      . Controls whether the specified values are allowed or not allowed in the field.
      Option
      Description
      In
      Displays the values to the user. If you add a list of comma-separated values as allowed values,
      Data Director
      users can choose a value from a lookup list.
      If you also configure a field filter on the same field, the displayed values reflect the intersection of the static filter and the field filter. For more information about field filters, see Field Filter Rules and User Roles.
      Not In
      Does not display the values to the user.
    • Value
      . Add values that match the data type of the field. To add multiple values, enter a comma-separated list of values. To allow users to leave the field blank, add empty quotes ("") as a value.
      The Provisioning tool does not validate the values. If you add a value of the wrong data type, the value does not appear in
      Data Director
      .
    Column
    Business entity field.
  6. Click
    Apply
    .
  7. Repeat step 3 to 6 for each additional relationship attribute that you want to configure.
