Reference entities are business entities that are associated with lookup base objects. As with a business entity, the first step is to create the root node for the reference entity. For example, you can create a reference entity associated with the lookup base object LUCountry in the MDM schema.
Before you begin, create the lookup base object in the MDM Hub Console.
To avoid potential case sensitivity issues, ensure that all the codes and values in the lookup base object follow a consistent capitalization strategy. For example, all values start with an uppercase letter or all codes are in uppercase.
Click
Business Entity
Modeling
, and then select
Reference Entities
.
Click
Create
.
A new root node appears among the reference entities.
In the
Name
field, enter a name for the reference entity.
For example, enter
LUCountry
.
In the
Label
field, enter a display name for the reference entity.
For example, enter
LUCountry
.
Optionally, enter a description of the reference entity.
Optionally, enable the
State Management Enabled
check box.
When this check box is enabled, the Repository Manager validation checks that all base objects in the reference entity are enabled for state management, except referenced lookups.
In the
Base Object
field and select a lookup base object from the MDM schema to associate with the reference entity.
For example, select the base object C_LU_COUNTRY.
Click
Apply
.
The changes are saved but are not published to the MDM Hub.
