Step 6. Configure Additional Relationship Attributes (Optional)

You can configure additional relationship attributes for a relationship. For example, a relationship between an organization and person can have an additional attributes, such as salary and designation of employee. A relationship between a person and automobile can have additional attributes, such as purchase date, mileage, and price. The fields appear in the
Data Director
user interface when creating or viewing the relationship.
Before you begin, you must configure hierarchy relationships. Also, the base object that maintains the relationship must have the columns that correspond to the attributes you want to add.
  1. Click
    Business Entity
    Modeling
    , and then select
    Hierarchies
    .
  2. Select the hierarchy you want to configure.
  3. In the tree view panel, expand the relationship for which you want to configure relationship attributes.
  4. In the tree view panel, select
    Fields
    , and then click
    Create
    .
  5. Specify the following properties:
    Property
    Description
    Name
    Name of the field.
    Label
    Display name of the field in the user interface.
    Read Only
    Indicates whether the field is read only.
    Required
    Indicates whether you must specify the field when you create a relationship.
    URI
    URI for where your custom data types are defined, if you want to associate a custom data type with the business entity field,
    Type
    Name of the custom data type that you define in the URI. Used with the URI property.
    Display Format
    The display format for the date fields.
    Filter
    Regulates the data that users can enter in the field. If you enable the
    Filter
    property, the following properties appear:
    • Operator
      . Controls whether the specified values are allowed or not allowed in the field.
      Option
      Description
      In
      Displays the values to the user. If you add a list of comma-separated values as allowed values,
      Data Director
      users can choose a value from a lookup list.
      If you also configure a field filter on the same field, the displayed values reflect the intersection of the static filter and the field filter. For more information about field filters, see Field Filter Rules and User Roles.
      Not In
      Does not display the values to the user.
    • Value
      . Add values that match the data type of the field.
      Requirement
      Description
      Add multiple values
      Comma-separated list of field values. Based on the operator you select, Data Director determines whether to display these values. For example,
      Person,SecurePerson,Employee.
      Allow null value
      To allow NULL data values for fields within a particular business entity, enter empty double quotes ("") as a value. For example, Person, "".
      For example, you can configure the firstName field of the Person business entity to match NULL values. When a Data Director user performs a search, the search results include the records where the First Name field is empty.
      Allow date and time values
      Specifies whether records with the field that matches the date and time appear in Data Director search results. Add the date and time values in the following format:
      yyyy-MM-ddTHH:mm:ssTZD.
      For example,
      2021-06-18T00:00:00Z
      The Provisioning tool does not validate the values. If you add a value of the wrong data type, the value does not appear in
      Data Director
      .
    Column
    Business entity field.
  6. Click
    Apply
    .
  7. Repeat step 4 to 6 for each additional relationship attribute that you want to configure.
