Root Node Properties

Root Node Properties

Define the properties of the root node to configure how the business entity appears in Data Director. You can also enable state management for the business entity.
Name
Name of the root node or the business entity model. The name appears only in the Provisioning tool.
Label
Label for the business entity that you want to appear within views in
Data Director
.
If you do not specify a label or a label format for the business entity, the name appears as the label for the business entity.
If you localize the metadata for Data Director and use the metadata bundle file,
besMetadata.properties
, the labels and label formats in the metadata bundle file take precedence over the labels and label formats configured in the properties panel.
Description
Optional. Description of the root node.
State Management Enabled
Determines if state management is enforced among all nodes in the business entity.
Base Object
The base object in the MDM Hub with which you want to associate the root node.
Label Format
Optional. Label for the business entity that consists of field values instead of hard coded text. The label format that you configure appears in the views in
Data Director
.
Syntax of the label format is {<field name 1>}, {<field name n>}. For example, use {lastName}, {firstName} to display the values of the last name and the first name as the label.
If you specify a label format and a hard coded label, a label with the specified format appears in all the views in
Data Director
.
If you do not specify a label or a label format, the business entity name appears as a label for the business entity in the views in
Data Director
.
If you localize the metadata for Data Director and use the metadata bundle file,
besMetadata.properties
, the labels and label formats in the metadata bundle file take precedence over the labels and label formats configured in the properties panel.
Color
The color that represents the business entity in
Data Director
. For example, the color appears as the background color for business entity icons in the
New
dialog box and record views, such as the business entity view,
Hierarchy
view, and
Network
view.
Business Entity Icon
Optional. The icon that represents the business entity in
Data Director
. For example, the icon appears in the
New
dialog box and record views, such as the business entity view,
Hierarchy
view, and
Network
view.
Business Entity Record Icon
Optional. A field that
Data Director
users can specify an image URL or attach an image to represent the record. The icon appears in record views, such as the business entity view,
Hierarchy
view, and
Network
view. For more information the image URL or file attachment data types, see Predefined Custom Data Types.
If you do not specify a field for the business entity record icon, then
Data Director
uses the business entity icon.
