Link Syntax

Link Syntax

The syntax you use when you enter the address of the document depends on the location of the document and the browser you use when you log in to Metadata Manager. For example, you can link to documents in a shared directory on Internet Explorer. In Firefox, the link may not work.
Any link must be accessible to the client machines of all Metadata Manager users. For example, if you create a link to a shared directory, the shared directory must be accessible to the client machines for Metadata Manager users.
The following table describes the link syntax:
Link Type
Syntax
URL
http://<address> or https://<address>
FTP
ftp://<address>
Shared Directory
\\<machine name>\<directory>
Metadata Manager adds http:// to any link that does not specify the link syntax.
