COM External Procedure Server Type

The Integration Service only supports in-process COM servers, which have Server Type
: Dynamic Link Library
. This is done to enhance performance. It is more efficient when processing large amounts of data to process the data in the same process, instead of forwarding it to a separate process on the same machine or a remote machine.
