Managing Tasks Overview

You can manage tasks associated to business entity records by performing task administration actions. You can claim, assign, release, or edit tasks. Or, you can take an action on tasks, such as accept, reject, or disclaim. For example, you might want to release tasks claimed by an user on vacation or edit the priority of tasks related to the John Smith record.
The task administration actions that you can perform depend on your role and task definitions. Users assigned the Task Administrator role can manage all tasks, while other users can only manage tasks available to their user role.
If you are assigned multiple roles, you might be able to perform more task administration actions. For example, if you are assigned the Data Steward role and the Task Administrator role. You can manage tasks available to Data Stewards, and you can also manage all tasks as a task administrator.
The following table lists the task administration actions available to user roles:

Users can perform the following task administration actions on all tasks:
  • Assign
  • Release
  • Edit
Other user roles
Users can perform the following task administration actions on tasks available to their user role:
  • Claim
Users can perform the following task administration actions on tasks based on whether they are assigned the tasks:
  • Release
  • Edit
  • Task actions, such as Accept, Reject, or Disclaim
The available task actions depend on the selected tasks and your ActiveVOS workflows.
If you and your colleagues require different user roles, task definitions, workflow triggers, or ActiveVOS workflows, contact your MDM administrator. The MDM administrator can change your configurations.
