Adding an Extraction Map

Adding an Extraction Map

You can manually add an extraction map to an extraction group, if necessary.
PowerExchange generates an extraction map when you define a capture registration. However, you might want to add an additional extraction map for a registration.
  1. Open an extraction group.
  2. On the
    Extraction Group
    tab in the
    Resource Explorer
, right-click the extraction group and click
    Add Extract Definition
    .
  3. In the
    Add Extract Definition - Name
dialog box, enter the following information:
    1. In the
      Map Name
field, enter a unique user-defined name for the extraction map. Maximum length is eight characters.
    2. In the
      Table Name
field, enter a user-defined name for the table portion of the extraction map name. Maximum length is 20 characters.
    The
    Schema Name
field displays the generated name for the schema portion of the extraction map name in read only format. The name has the following format:
    u
    nninstance
    Where:
    • u indicates that the extraction map is user-defined.
    • nn
is a one- to two-character value that indicates the source type. For example, 10 represents Microsoft SQL Server.
    • instance
is the instance value specified or generated when the registration group was created. It varies by source type.
  4. Click
    Next
    .
    The
Add Extract Definition - Capture Registrations
    dialog box appears. The
    Available Capture Registrations
list displays the capture registrations that are available to associate with the extraction map.
The following table describes the columns in this list:
    Column
    Description
    Name
The user-defined name of the capture registration.
    Version
    The registration version number.
    Condense
Whether PowerExchange Condense or the PowerExchange Logger for Linux, UNIX, and Windows is used and the type of PowerExchange Condense processing on i5/OS or z/OS. Options are:
    • None
. PowerExchange does not use PowerExchange Condense or the PowerExchange Logger for Linux, UNIX, and Windows to process changes for the registered source.
    • Part
. PowerExchange uses PowerExchange Condense or the PowerExchange Logger to process changes for the registered source. PowerExchange Condense uses partial condense processing. This option maintains transactional consistency.
    • Full
. PowerExchange uses PowerExchange Condense full condense processing for an
      i5/OS
      or
      z/OS
source but some limitations apply. This option does not maintain transactional consistency.
For more information, see Condense Options.
    Status
The status of the capture registration with regard to availability for change capture use. Options are:
    • I
for Inactive. PowerExchange cannot yet use the registration to capture changes for the source. This option is the initial status setting for a new registration.
    • A
for Active. PowerExchange can use the registration to capture changes for the source.
    • H
for History. PowerExchange has permanently stopped using the registration for change capture. The registration is obsolete but retained for audit purposes.
    • S
for Suspended. PowerExchange change capture processing is temporarily suspended for the registered source. This status is set by the PWXUCREG utility SUSPEND_REGISTRATION command and is available only for an Adabas, Datacom table-based, IDMS log-based, or IMS log-based CDC source.
For more information, see Status Options.
  5. In the
    Available Capture Registrations
list, select a capture registration and click
    Add
    .
The selected capture registration moves to the
    Current Capture Registration
    list.
    • To change your selection, double-click a registration in the
      Available Capture Registrations
list. The registration moves to the
      Current Capture Registration
list, and the previous registration moves back to the
      Available Capture Registrations
      list.
    • To remove a capture registration from the
      Current Capture Registration
list, select the registration and click
      Remove
or double-click the registration. The registration moves back to the
      Available Capture Registrations
      list.
  6. Click
    Finish
    .
PowerExchange creates the extraction map in the DTLCAMAP file on a z/OS source system or in the CAMAPS file on a non-z/OS source system. The extraction map name has the following format:
    u
    nn
    schema
    .
    mapname
    Where:
    • "u" indicates that the extraction map is user-defined.
    • nn
is a one- to two-character value that indicates the source type.
    • schema
      is the PowerExchange-generated schema name.
    • mapname
is the map name that you specified in Step 3.
For more information, see Extraction Map Names.
The new extraction map appears in the list of extraction maps on the
Extraction Group
tab in the
Resource Explorer
. Also, the extraction map appears in the following locations in the interface:
  • The
    Extract Definition
window displays the columns in the extraction map.
  • The
    Extract Definition
    tab in the
    Resource Inspector
displays the properties for the extraction map. Use the arrows to toggle between the
    Extract Definition
    and
    Extraction Group
    tabs in the
    Resource Inspector
    .
  • The status bar displays information about the open extraction group and extraction map.
