A category is a descriptive classification of business terms and policies.
You can configure the following properties to define a category:
Name
Category name.
Description
Description of the category.
Location
The glossary that contains the category.
Business Initiative
A business initiative to which the category belongs.
Status
The current status of the category. The current status is applicable for the current revision of the category.
A category can have one of the following statuses:
Active. Indicates that the category is valid for the organization. All Business Glossary users can see the category.
Inactive. Indicates that the category is not valid for the organization or not ready for use.
Phase
The current phase of the category. The current phase is applicable for the current revision of the category. The value of this property changes when the data steward defines, proposes, rejects, or publishes the category.
A category can exist in one of the following phases:
Draft. Indicates that the data steward created the category.
In Review. Indicates that the data steward proposed a review by the stakeholder.
Rejected. Indicates that the stakeholder reviewed and rejected the category.
Published. Indicates that the data steward published the category.
Pending Publish. Indicates that the category is part of a business initiative which is not yet published.
Glossary consumers can see published categories.
Data Steward
The user who manages the category.
Owner
The category owner.
Stakeholders
One or more users who participate in the approval process before the data steward publishes the category.
Attachments
Contains properties to attach documents, images, and other kind of files to the category.
