Adding a Custom Data Type to a Field

Adding a Custom Data Type to a Field

You can associate custom data types with business entity fields. When you associate a custom data type with a field, you enter the location of the resource where your custom data types are defined. For example, you might want to associate a FileAttachment or ImageURL data type with a field for the Person business entity.
  1. In the tree view, expand the node to which you want to add a field.
    For example, you expand the
    Person
    node.
  2. Under the expanded node, select
    Fields
    .
  3. In the tree view, click
    Create
    .
    The
    New Field
form appear in the node properties panel.
  4. In the
    New Field
form, enter a field name and a field label name.
    For example, enter
    Picture
    for an image, or
    Document
for an attachment as the field name and field label name.
  5. Select the URI where your custom data types are defined.
  6. Select a custom data type.
The custom data types are created in the namespace before you add a data type to a field.
  7. To associate the field with a base object column, select a base object column.
The base object column is created in the MDM Hub before you add a field to a node.
  8. Optionally, select the
