DPV PBSA Indicator

Output port that indicates whether a post office box address in the United States includes street information. If you create an address list for CASS certification, you must identify any post office box street address (PBSA) in the list.

DPV PBSA Indicator Usage

To determine whether an address in the United States is a PBSA address, select the DPV PBSA Indicator port.

By default, the USPS uses the descriptor "UNIT" as the postal phrase descriptor in a PBSA. If the input address uses another descriptor or does not use a descriptor, address validation returns UNIT as the descriptor. If the input address uses the pound sign (#) as a descriptor, address validation keeps the pound sign as the descriptor.

The following table shows PBSA addresses with different postal phrase descriptors:
