Rules and Guidelines for Application Patch Deployment
Refer to the following rules and guidelines when you update an incremental application by deploying an application patch:
If you select to update application objects from the Object Explorer view, the Incremental Deployment Wizard begins constructing the application dependencies. You can view the progress in the Progress view, but you cannot cancel the operation.
When you create a patch, the Incremental Deployment wizard does not list any objects that are not objects in the application.
For example, an application can contain a mapping and exclude the data objects that the mapping uses to transform data. In this case, the data objects are not application objects. When you create a patch, you will not be able to see the data objects, but the wizard will process the data objects when it identifies the dependencies between application objects.
If you change the name or the project of an application object in the design-time application and update the object using an application patch, the object is duplicated in the run-time application under different paths.
If the application description of the run-time application is empty the first time that you deploy a patch, the Incremental Deployment Wizard updates the description using the application's patch history. When you deploy additional patches, the wizard appends the patch names to the description. The wizard continues appending patch names until you edit the application description using any client.
