Configuring a Decision Strategy

Configuring a Decision Strategy

To configure a decision strategy, connect source data to the Decision transformation and edit the properties in the transformation views.
  1. Open a Decision transformation.
  2. Verify that the transformation contains input and output ports.
  3. Select the
    Decision
    view.
  4. Click
    Add
    .
  5. Enter a name for the strategy.
  6. In the
    Expression
    area, enter an
    IF-THEN-ELSE
    conditional statement.
  7. To add a function to the expression, browse the functions in the
    Functions
    tab and double-click a function name.
    To quickly enter a function, type the first letters of the function name and select
    CTRL-Space
    .
  8. To add a port to the expression, browse the ports in the
    Ports
    tab. Double-click a port name to add it to the expression. Optionally, click
    Edit Output Ports
    to edit output port settings or add output ports.
  9. Optionally, add comment lines by typing "//" followed by your comments.
  10. Click
    Validate
    to determine if the decision expression is valid.
  11. Click
    OK
    to save the strategy.
  12. Optionally, add additional strategies. Each strategy must use unique output ports. Strategies cannot share output ports.
