Opening a Configuration File on a Remote System from the Fast Clone Console

In the Fast Clone Console, you can open a configuration file that is stored on a remote system by using FTP. You then view or edit the file in the Fast Clone Console. If you edit the file, you can save the updated file back to the remote system.
  1. Verify that the
    Remote configuration management
    option is selected on the
    Source DB
    tab >
    Source Database
    view.
  2. On the menu bar, click
    File
    Open Remotely
    .
    The
    Informatica Fast Clone Console Remote
    window appears, as shown in the following image:
  3. Enter connection information for the FTP server that runs on the remote system.
    The following table describes the connection fields:

    Description

    Host address
    The host name or IP address of the remote system that stores the configuration file.
    No default
    Initial folder
    The directory that opens after you connect to the remote system. Leave this field blank to open the root directory.
    Blank
    Username
    A user name that is used to access the configuration file with FTP.
    anonymous
    Password
    A valid password for the specified user.
    Blank
    Port number
    The port number for the FTP server

    Transfer mode
    The transfer mode that Fast Clone uses to transfer the cloning configuration files to the FTP server. Options are:
    • Smart by Ext
      . Automatically determines the transfer mode based on the file extension.
    • Ascii Text
      . Converts ASCII-formatted text configuration files to another format, if necessary.
    • Binary Data
      . Transfers the files as a binary stream of data.

    List command
    A command that is used to get a list of files and directories on the remote system.
    LIST
    Socket mode
    The mode for establishing the data connection. Options are:
    • Active
      . The Fast Clone Console opens a socket and waits for the server to establish the transfer connection.
    • Passive
      . The FTP server chooses a port for the data connection. The Fast Clone Console issues the PASV command and initiates data connections to the server by using the PASV port.

    If the connection is successful, the
    Directories
    tab appears and displays the file hierarchy on the FTP server.
    If the connection is not successful, click the
    Logs
    tab to review log information.
  5. Select a configuration file to open and click
    Open
    .
    The Fast Clone Console opens the configuration file.
