Defining a Source Connection

Defining a Source Connection

Create a source connection for the source database that you want to retire. The source database is the database that stores the transactional data that you want to archive. For example, the source can be an ERP application such as PeopleSoft. The source database is usually the production database or application database.
Define a connection to the application that you want to retire. Select the application version. Then, create or choose a source connection.
  • If the source connection is a Microsoft SQL Server, clear the
    Compile ILM Functions
    check box on the
    Create or Edit an Archive Source
    page before you start a retirement job. This ensures that the staging database user has read-only access and will not be able to modify the source application.
  • Clear the
    Use Staging
    check box on the
    Create or Edit an Archive Source
    page before you start a retirement job.
