Adding a Generic Query

Adding a Generic Query

If you want to use the building blocks to construct a query that can be understood by any of the supported databases, add a generic query.
If you want to code an SQL statement, add a custom query instead.
  1. In the
    workbench, click
  2. Acquire a write lock.
  3. Optionally, in the navigation pane, select the query group to which you want to add the query.
  4. Right-click in the navigation pane and click
    New Query
    New Query Wizard
  5. If you see a
    screen, click
  6. Specify the general query properties, and click
    Query name
    Type a descriptive name for the query.
    Optionally, type a description for the query.
    Query Group
    Optionally, select a different query group.
    Select primary table
    Select the table from which you want to retrieve data.
  7. If you want to retrieve a subset of columns, select the columns:
    1. In the
      Select query columns
      screen, select the columns to include and clear the check boxes for all other columns.
    2. If you intend to use the query in a PUT-enabled package, select the
      Rowid Object
      The Rowid Object is a required column for PUT-enabled packages.
  8. Click
    The query appears within the selected query group.
  9. To view the results of the query, in the navigation pane, expand the query and click
    The Queries tool displays the results of the query.
To further refine the query, edit the query and use the query building blocks.
