Use the following rules and guidelines when you create links for a resource:
You cannot create links for a resource that Metadata Manager has not loaded or that is being loaded.
You can create links for a resource that has failed to load.
Metadata Manager can concurrently link resources that share connection assignments or linking rules. Metadata Manager uses the following rules and guidelines when it concurrently links resources:
When Metadata Manager is loading, updating, refreshing connections, purging, or deleting a resource, you cannot create links for the resource or for a resource that shares connection assignments or linking rules.
When Metadata Manager is creating links for a resource, you cannot load, update, refresh connections, purge, or delete the resource or a resource that shares connection assignments or linking rules.
If Metadata Manager is creating links for a resource and you load a resource that shares connection assignments or linking rules, the second resource waits in the load queue until the first resource completes linking.
If Metadata Manager is creating links for a resource and you request link creation for a resource that shares connection assignments or linking rules, the second resource waits in the link queue until the first resource finishes linking.
If Metadata Manager is loading a resource and you request link creation for a resource that shares connection assignments or linking rules, Metadata Manager defers creating links to the resource being loaded. Metadata Manager create the links when it finishes loading the first resource.
If you request link creation for resources that share connection assignments or linking rules at the same time, Metadata Manager randomly chooses one resource to link first. Metadata Manager defers creating links to the resource in the link queue. When Metadata Manager creates links for the second resource, it creates the links to the first resource.
