Selecting Column and Row Separator and Enclosure Character to Use for Data Loading
Selecting Column and Row Separator and Enclosure Character to Use for Data Loading
To perform accurate data load to a target database, select a valid column and row separator and enclosure character that does not appear in the source data. The Fast Clone Console provides a convenient validation tool that you can use to select valid values for column and row separator and enclosure character using sampling.
The validation tool checks table data in the sample row set and reports an error if a control character sequence appears in the source data.
Validation of the source data is a time-consuming operation that is comparable to the data unload operation. Use the validation tool for small source tables. For large tables, select a row and column separator and enclosure character sequence that includes multiple characters and is unlikely to appear in the source data.
Click the
Runtime Settings
tab >
Format Settings
view.
Start the validation tool.
For the column separator, click the button to the right of the
Column separator
field.
For the row separator, click the button to the right of the
Record separator
field.
For the enclosure character, click the button to the right of the
Enclosed by
field.
The dialog box of the validation tool appears, as shown in the following image:
In the list, select a source table that you want to validate.
In the
Select Rows Count
field, enter number of rows in the source table to validate.
The default value is 100 rows.
Click
Validate
and review the validation results.
If the Fast Clone Console reports a validation error, either select another value for the row or column separator or enclosure character, or define a replacement rule for the specified character value.
