Mapping tasks

Use the
mapping
task to process data based on the data flow logic defined in a mapping.
When you create a
mapping
task, you select the mapping for the task to use. The mapping must already exist before you can create a
mapping
task for it. Alternatively, you can create a
mapping
task using a template.
If the mapping includes parameters, you can define the parameters when you configure the task or define the parameters when you run the task. You can use user-defined parameters for data filters, expressions, and lookup expressions in a
mapping
task. You define user-defined parameters in a parameter file associated with the task.
At run time, a
mapping
task processes task data based on the data flow logic from the mapping, the parameters defined in the task, and the user-defined parameters defined in a parameter file, when available.
