Internal ID is a unique identifier and alias is an alternative identifier of a
reference data asset. You can use internal IDs and aliases as identifiers in applications
that use
Reference 360
.
When you create a reference data asset, you can specify a unique internal ID for the reference
data asset. You can configure internal IDs with alphanumeric characters and underscores,
limited to a maximum of 45 characters. You can't update the internal ID after you save
an asset. You can't specify internal IDs for assets that were created before the April
2025 release.
When you create or update a reference data asset, you can also specify an alias. You can
configure aliases with alphanumeric characters and underscores, limited to a maximum of
70. After you save an asset, you can edit the alias.
Effective in the April 2025 release, internal
IDs of predefined assets start with an underscore. However, internal IDs and aliases for
custom assets and aliases for predefined assets can't begin with an underscore.
For more information about using the identifiers of assets to import the assets, see
Import model for adding new assets and updating
existing assets
.
To generate alias for the existing predefined assets that don't have internal IDs, run the
alias generation API.
For more information about alias generation API, see alias generation.
