Step 1. Create a hierarchy

Step 1. Create a hierarchy

Create a hierarchy and configure the general properties and status. You can specify internal ID and alias for a hierarchy.
You must be assigned the Planner role to work with hierarchies. For more information, see Users, groups, and roles.
  1. Click
    New
    and select
    Hierarchy
    .
    The
    New Hierarchy
    page appears and displays the
    Summary
    tab.
  2. Configure the general properties fields.
    The domain, confidentiality, and priority are inherited by code lists in the reference data set.
    The following table lists the properties that you can configure for a hierarchy:
    General Property Field
    Description
    Name
    Required. Display name of a hierarchy.
    Internal ID
    Required. Unique identifier of a hierarchy, limited to a maximum of 45 characters. You can use alphanumeric characters and underscores. After you save an asset, you can't edit the internal ID.
    You can't specify internal IDs for existing assets.
    Alias
    Alternative identifier for a hierarchy, limited to a maximum of 70 alphanumeric characters. After you save an asset, you can edit the alias.
    Version
    The version information of a hierarchy.
    Description
    Short description of a hierarchy.
    Application
    The source application of a hierarchy.
    Domain
    An area or grouping to describe a hierarchy.
    Confidentiality
    The confidentiality level of a hierarchy.
    Priority
    The priority of a hierarchy asset. The priority levels are critical, high, medium, and low.
    Status
    The state of a hierarchy in the life cycle.
    Effective Date
    The date from when the status is effective.
    You can't type a date. To select or modify a date, use the
    Calendar
    icon. To clear the selection, click the
    Remove
    icon.
    Approved by
    The user who approved a hierarchy.
    Approved on
    The date of approval.
    You can't type a date. To select or modify a date, use the
    Calendar
    icon. To clear the selection, click the
    Remove
    icon.
    If you do not see options in some lists, configure your system reference data values. For more information, see Adding values to system reference data.
  3. Click
    Save
    .
    The
    Definition
    tab appears and displays an undefined node in the Hierarchy Designer.
