Network Relationships

Network Relationships

The network is a collection of network relationships between business entities. A network relationship is a connection between related business entities.
When you edit the network, you add business entities and configure network relationships between the business entities. Each network relationship becomes part of the network of relationships. The network does not contain a root node.
For example, your organization needs to track related business entities. You might create the following network relationships:
  1. Create a relationship from the Person business entity to the Products business entity.
  2. Create a relationship from the Organization business entity to the Person business entity.
  3. Create a relationship from the Organization business entity to the Credit Card business entity.
  4. Create a relationship from the Household business entity to the Person business entity.
Then in
Data Director
, users can create a network relationship between the John Smith record and the X100 Keyboard record. Users can also create a network relationship from the Smiths record to the John Smith record.
The following image shows a sample network in the Network Designer:
The Network Designer displays the network of relationships. There are many relationships in the network. Some of the relationships include a relationship from the Person business entity to the Products business entity, from the Organization business entity to the Person business entity, from the Organization business entity to the Credit Card business entity, and from the Household business entity to the Person business entity.
