The Normalizer
transformation is an active transformation that transforms one incoming row into multiple output
rows. The transformation processes multiple-occurring fields or multiple-occurring groups of
fields in each source row, and returns a row for each instance of the multiple-occurring
data.
For example, a relational source includes four fields with quarterly sales data. You can configure a Normalizer transformation to generate a separate output row for each quarter.
When the Normalizer transformation returns multiple rows from an incoming row, it returns duplicate data for single-occurring incoming columns.
When you configure a Normalizer transformation, you define Normalizer properties on the following tabs of the
Properties
panel:
Normalized Fields
tab. Define
the multiple-occurring fields and multiple-occuring groups of fields, and specify additional
fields that you want to use in the mapping.
Field Mapping
tab. Connect the incoming fields to the normalized fields.
